Whiskey Blanket Prepares to Release New Album Thick As Thieves

By Josh Warner on Dec 08, 2017 in Music Videos , New Music , News , Upcoming Shows - 0 Comments

Whiskey Blanket will be releasing their new album Thick As Thieves Saturday, December 23rd at The Ogden Theater alongside The Living Legends and Hieroglyphics for the 11th annual How the Grouch Stole Christmas tour. The multi talented-trio has been wrecking sets while incorporating violin, cello and turntablism into their extraordinary theatrical performance for over a decade.  Whiskey Blanket is truly a spectacle to watch live, combining hand crafted beats and precision word play to match, they always take the audience on an exhilarating ride of ever-changing hip-hop inspired excellence.  Thick As Thieves has guest features from Homeboy Sandman, Jessa Raskin and Elle Jay. The album was entirely produced by Steakhouse and has also been pressed to vinyl– so you know your in for one hell of a treat. Joe Lessard and Xander Hirsch handled the awesome art work for the album featured below.

“Fine Print Poetics” is the first visual released for Thick As Thieves. Kind Dub did a great job editing the video and Steakhouse killed the production. The harmonica and horn section truly exemplify that unconventional Whiskey Blanket sound and what better way to celebrate those vintage tones than with Whiskey, cigars and a family game of poker. “Don’t forget the names Joey Slops, spelled with no money signs…”

In addition to being a hip-hop super group, all members of Whiskey Blanket have been making noise over the years performing with other acts, producing solo material and touring.  Jordan Polovina (Funny Biz) and Jessa Raskin make up Grim & Darling, an alternative, folk-hop outfit that effortlessly blends dreamy vocals and meaningful rhymes over guitar and cello laced beats. Joe Lessard (sloppy Joe) plays violin for Head for the Hills (Best in Colorado Bluegrass-Westword Showcase Readers Poll) and Steven Papel (Steakhouse) has been quietly producing the illest sample infused beats you have never heard. Steakhouse has also been busy recording and engineering for many artists including Travellers Music and their sophomore hip-hop album Judgement Day, set for release in 2018.  Follow Whiskey Blanket here and be sure to catch the album release show…you won’t regret it.
